Banished to the Purple Planet, Part Six
Ugh, another couple months since our last game. Work travel is really killing me! But no matter, we still managed to roll some dice last night.
Day 7
- The party found itself in front of the great Kith warlord known as Mama Kisses, a powerful kith-woman known as one of the greatest fighters of House Cotcyst.
- Floyd was inexplicably attracted to Mama Kisses, so when it came time to give an offering to the kith warband, the warrior handed over a special Mist Man Long Sword.
- Mama Kisses accepted the blade, offered the party refuge in their camp, and then sheathed the blade in the torso of a poor half-elf bard, stranded on the Purple Planet from a weird world powered by a completely different fantasy role-playing system: D&D 5th Edition.
- Turns out that D&D 5E has no power anywhere near the true glory of Dungeon Crawl Classics.
Day 8
- As evening draws, the party holds council with Mama Kisses.
- The warlord offers the party some insight and a choice:
- Castellum Cotcyst, home of House Cotcyst, is only a day's travel by Skiff to the west. The general information was shared with Floyd so that he could navigate.
- A great ruined city was recently discovered over thirty miles due north. For some reason, Mama Kisses had no wish to follow the party in this direction.
- The party could travel with Mama Kisses' warband as they raided House Reagen'Tor holdings to the southeast.
- While the party discussed their options, and brought up greenstones, a kith soldier named Pleta overheard the discussion.
- Pleta spoke broken common, and had many artifacts of other worlds on his person. He told the party that there were only three known intact greenstones:
- One held by House Cotcyst.
- One held by House Reagen'Tor.
- One inside the Great Mother Worm.
- The party decided to leave Mama Kisses and head north to the great ruined city in search of artifacts, treasure, and possibly unknown greenstone.
- After evading some Kith raiders in the hills, the party's skiff reached the top of a low peak and saw a great battle raging on the plain below. A strong warband of nearly 100 House Cotcyst kith engaged with around 60 from House Reagen'Tor.
- Hoping that their skiff would help seal the deal for House Cotcyst, Floyd joined the battle, attacking the Reagen'Tor leadership on its formation's flank.
- The party soon learned that Purple Planet artifacts are terribly dangerous!
- Both the Reagen'Tor warlord's ray rifle and his champions' plasma torches ignored armor, almost costing Floyd Pink his life.
- Dukdiv got impaled by a spear, and was out of action until the cleric Ssof ran over and healed him. But so much healing magic (crit!) surged into the catlike mutant, that he further mutated. Dukdiv immediately grew a second head named Dee.
- Otto overused his Axe of Pure Scream, causing some corruption to occur. The warrior grew a full sized, bird beak.
- By the end of the battle, the party earned some spoils from House Cotcyst's forces, and gained a new ally in Warlord Rothgar.
- Following the conflict, the party continued north another hour and found the ruined city.
- The session ended at 12:40am game time, with 10 hours of travel time left in the party's skiff.
