Banished to the Purple Planet - Twelve

          Day 12

          • The adventuring party spends the day exploring Castellum Cotcyst.
          • So that they can rest later, Walter the Elf calls dibs on an extra tent.
          • Floyd Pink finally figures out how to speak Kith.
          • Floyd Pink takes an interest in the big, stone building to the south. He makes friends with the guard outside and learns the following:
            • The building is called "The Strong House," a cache of special weapons and gear for outgoing Warbands.
            • The local Kith refer to the PC's as "Oofler," which essentially means "Non-Kith Members of a Kith community."
            • Without belonging to a sanctioned warband, the PC's can't access the Strong House.
            • There are no whole Greenstones in the Strong House, but there is one located in the Castellum's Tower.
          • The party goes to the Tower and tries to speak with one of the Masters. They are turned away, and told that they can't gain an audience without having something to trade. Something of worth or value.
          • Floyd brought the party back to the Wingleader's tent. The Wingleader reveals a bit more information about the Kith, the Purple Planet, and the Greenstones:
            • There are 3 known intact Greenstones on the Purple Planet. The one located in Castellum Cotcyst, one located within the Ziggurat of House Reagan'tor, and one held by the Great Worth Mother Vatya-Ibdid.
            • The Wingleader tells the party that they can't gain access to the Masters unless they gain more glory.
            • The idea pops up about running their own Warband.
            • The Wingleader agrees to give the PC's one hundred Kith to form their own Warband.
            • Queue the Rocky training  montage.

          Days 12-26

          • The PC's train their warband, under Warlord Floyd Pink. Ssof, Watson, and Walter act as Champions.

          Days 27-46

          • I broke out the Warlords of the Purple Planet playtest rules and ran the PC's through a single-player version for the remainder of the session.
          • In the first few days raiding the western edges of the Purple Planet's plateau, Floyd's Warband successfully doubled their size. They raided several exile forts and unaligned Kith camps. After defeating each in combat, the warband added to their number.
          • Along the way the warband also picked up more greenstone shards, discovered some fun beast-mounts to make themselves faster, and even pressed more exiles into service.
          • Eventually, after 19 days exploring the wastes, the Great Orm Mother Vatya-Ibdid attacked! It must've sensed all the greenstone shards on the party. But after three days of battle, the party's warband started winning!
          • Vatya-Ibdid started to turn and flee her attackers, when the individual PC's decided to make a play for the greenstone within the creature's brow.

              • The party begins the evening at 10:30pm, with 3 1/2 hours of power left on the skiff.
              • 10:45pm, the party discovers Walter the elf, trying to hitch a ride.
                • Walter the Elf, spent several days in the Mushroom forests after being cast out by the King of Elfland from his home world.
                • The party also met Walter's sexy cricket familiar.
              • 11pm, the party spots 13 Kith refugees slowly making their way across the desert.
                • Party approaches, but communication is challenging.

                • The wounded Kith are healed!
                • Ssof is offered the opportunity to make a banner for the refugees, which he does with the symbol of Aristemis.
                • The 13 Kith of Aristemis point to the jungles to the East.
              • 11:15pm, the party continues south along the edge of the mushroom forest. They come to the scene of a great battle!
                • 145 Kith on the side of House Cotcyst
                • 124 Kith Raiders
                • Charge! The party dives down into battle on board their skiff. They head towards the Raiders' right flank, currently under the command of a Silver Armor Champion.
                • Highlights were Screaming Otto using his Axe of Pure Scream to scare off the largest champion, and then Ssof took control of the second largest champion through a binding prayer. Also Walter's Enlarge spell manifests as the target becoming a baby and then growing back into a larger full form. Some great driving by Floyd as well, as he takes out four of the raiders by drifting into them.
                • In the end, House Cotcyst is victorious with 122 remaining warriors, while the Raiders run off with only 74 left in their numbers.
                • The Wingleader, Warlord of House Cotcyst calls upon the party.
              • 12am, camp with the Wingleader.
                • Speaks common! Learned from a small party of dwarves that he kept for a while as walking meat storage... he ate them eventually.
                • Offered spoils, including a great deal of Greenstone Shards.
                • Agree to take the party back to Castellum Cotcyst.
              • 12pm, the party arrives at Castellum Cotcyst.
                • The Wingleader tells the PC's that they must be branded with the symbol of House Cotcyst to enter.
                • The PC's take on the Brands of House Cotcyst, and enter Castellum Cotcyst as members of the Wingleader's Warband.

              Quotes

"The idea was fully Alex." - The party describes Gastronomix's death in the last session.

"Considering he got eaten as his means of death, it's actually pretty fitting." - Marc continues beating up Gastronomix, this time over his name. And Alex wasn't even playing.

"Only one screamer in the party!" - Screaming Otto doesn't want Walter or the Sexy Cricket on board the skiff if either is a screamer.

Banished to the Purple Planet - Part Nine - The Rock Awakens, Part Three

                      Day 9

Time to wrap up our campaign's final session of The Rock Awakens, by Terry Olson!

                      • Our session began with Screaming Otto rejoining the party investigating the ancient and abandoned city. Nutbiter the Manimal, Ssof the Cleric of Aristemis, and Nicodemus the Thief had already spent much of the day questing about town.
                      • The party was inside of a triangular building on the northern edge of town. The first circular room contained the control panel for the laser drones hovering outside of the building. Two stairwells led down from the room.
                      • The party chose to travel down the eastern stairwell. Nutbiter led the way, and they found themselves in a storage room. The manimal searched the room a bit, recovering a few weird metal plates covered in diagrams.
                      • Ssof arrived on the scene just as a silent sphere appeared behind Nutbiter. Apparently, the guardian drone wasn't keen on the manimal pilfering from the structure. The drone blasted Nutbiter before the party was able to charge in and engage in combat. Screaming Otto lopped off one of the drone's weapons, and the party finished it off before it could fire again.
                      • Nutbiter searched the top of the drone, hoping to dig out some treasure. Unfortunately he set off a trap, getting further blasted. At least there was a greenstone shard powering the device.
                      • The part then traveled to the west into another nearby chamber. Inside they found a bizarre stone door in the floor. Laying next to the stone door was a dead Kith, an obvious victim to the prior room's drone. Nicodemus searched the Kith, and found him clutching a Bronze Skull Mace of Heavy Doom.
                      • Bronze Skull Mace of Heavy Doom
                        • Two Handed Weapon
                        • Requires a Strength of 14 to wield
                        • Attack rolls made at -1d
                        • 1d16 damage
                        • Vibrating head, with the bronze outer casing concealing a bizarre, otherworldly metal on the inside.
                      • The party made their way to the final chamber of the structure. Inside, they saw an eight-foot tall alien figure, covered in interstellar images and scenes, resting inside of a stasis field. The circular room was adorned in weird symbols and shapes. The stasis field had a button at its base. The party toggled the button, and the void creature was free!
                      • The void creature was also really, really pissed off. Immediately it howled at the party, causing them much distress. It them transformed its hands into pointy speartips, and started a stabbing rampage. Poor Otto got a stabby-hand to his groin!
                      • The party seemed fairly unsuccessful in direct combat with the void creature. But Nutbiter hatched a plan to encase the creature in the stasis field again. Pushing it back into the field's range, Ssof pressed the button again, pinning the legs and lower torso of the creature within the energy barrier.
                      • The creature's continued screaming incapacitated Otto (how ironic), and the entire structure started to shake violently. The party grabbed their warrior, and fled the building.
                      • As they ran outside, Ssof healed Otto, and the group ran as far as they could from the triangular building. They needed to get outside of the city itself, as it appeared that the entire complex was rising into the sky. The city had been situated atop a great, stone, tentacled flying creature.
                      • The party jumped away from the city in one final leap just before the entire structure rose up and flew towards the Ancestor Peaks.
                      • Fortunately, in the crater left behind, the party found 19 greenstone shards amongst the rubble.

                      Quotes

"I don't think you intended it, but when you named the genie Brandon, all I can think is 'Brendan LeSalle'." - Marc.

"... and how many hit points would a dead Cleric give you? None!" - Andy defends his character's choice to hide in the lamp during the last battle.

"I'm back man!" - Screaming Otto back in combat.

"Terry Olson is a d***. I'm not buying any more of his s***!" - Alex felt this adventure may have been a bit challenging. He expressed it with this phrase. (Please note, Mr. Olson, that this was stated entirely in jest, and with full knowledge that I was writing down quotes.)

"I know what she do with the dice!" - Jonata to Evie, rolling the last attack roll against Screaming Otto.

Banished to the Purple Planet - Part Eight - The Rock Awakens, Part Two

                        Day 9
                        • The session begins at 11am with 10 hours of travel on their party's skiff
                        • Most of the team waited outside the city, with Nutbiter, Ssof, and Nicodemus starting off in the old temple. [Judge's Note: we just had Marc, Andy, and Alex playing.]
                        • The party decided to investigate the murals. Both Nicodemus and Ssof attempted to fiddle with a pair of murals, but they turned to toxic, moldy dust.
                        • Nutbiter's turns to chip away revealed secret alcove. Inside was a metal lamp.
                        • Written on the outside of the lamp, in a truly ancient tongue, was "Brandon."
                        • Behold Brandon the UnGenie! Congenial and eager to please, Brandon appeared before the party, and offered two services.
                          • By rubbing the lamp the right way, Brandon appeared to grant up to 3 un-wishes. Un-wishes could cancel any actual wish.
                          • By blowing into the lamp, a party member could enter the lamp (only one could fit) alongside Brandon. Within the lamp the party member would find a hot tub and some food.
                        • Brandon states that he doesn't know where he is, but that the last time he was anywhere it was in the Eastern Forest.
                        • The party next traveled to the singing preacher, located in the northwestern quadrant of the city on a tower.
                        • The preacher kept shouting the same phrases, and threatened the party if they tried to approach his tower.
                          • [Judge's Note: the GM may have sung all of the preacher's lines just like Justin Guarini's "Lil Sweet" from the Diet Doctor Pepper commercial.]
                        • As the party discussed what to do next, a trio of strekleons appeared, ready to fight. Some of the best backup came from the old preacher, who fired blowgun darts into combat, putting two of the strekleons to sleep.
                        • During this battle, Nicodemus realized (after 2+ years of this campaign) that he had a magic item called the Rod of Chains from the very first adventure. This was helpful in combat!
                        • Also during the battle, Ssof cast a lost of spells, and afterwards there was a powerful earthquake centered on him. Nicodemus and Nutbiter had to rescue their Cleric from a great crack in the world.
                        • The party tried communicating with the old preacher on top of the tower, but speaking in obscure and cryptic song lyrics proved too challenging. It was clear that the preacher didn't want the party climbing up to the top of the tower, and he wasn't climbing down.
                        • Next up, the party headed towards the great triangular structure with a bizarre flat platform on top. Upon approaching the building, six floating disks moved towards the party.
                        • Noting that their movement seemed to be matched by the disks, Nicodemus went into stealth mode and sneaked into the triangular building. Inside he found a bunch of control panels, and started following some of the directions. After just a few seconds he accidentally programmed the disks outside to fire on his teammates.
                        • Nutbiter went down quick, while Ssof hid inside of Brandon's lamp.
                        • The laser blasts from the floating disks caused a major earthquake, shaking free a lot of the old stone and dirt, and revealing a great eye above.
                        • When Nicodemus came outside, he checked on his teammates, rolled Nutbiter's little body, and checked on Ssof.

                        Quotes

"Just rub it!" - Alex talking about the lamp.

"I've never been inside a lamp before." - Ssof.

"We could be 'Wish Repo Men.'" - Marc was also fascinated about the lamp.

"Back up and do thiefy things!" - Marc to Alex.

"I'm gonna dive, grab the lamp, and suck!" - Andy focused on that lamp!
